My Dinner With Andre is a shining, difficult movie.
A lot of people are turned off by this film because it’s mainly one extended scene of two unglamorous people talking about existence. But what a conversation, and what a scene! Andre Gregory’s bizarre, surreal fable and his catharsis about the nature of current life that comes from it is great stuff, but the staunch punch comes from Wallace Shawn, our Everyman, and his reaction to it. It’s a shame that so many can’t perceive more than 10 minutes of this movie, because it is ultimately Shawn, at the demolish, who speaks their thoughts.
MDWA demands your attention for two hours, which is no easy task, because there is no right yarn in the ragged sense. It also demands multiple viewings, because it is rich with subtle detail, and there’s a lot to seize in. Seek, for instance, the continual references to the Holocaust, culminating in Gregory’s myth of his friend’s theory about the city-as-modern-concentration-camp. And as you peep these two actors play, ostensibly, themselves, you wonder how considerable of the film is factual and how remarkable is a carefully constructed memoir. It’s a spacious mystery, one that I win unsolved.

Kudos also go to the director, the big Louis Malle, whose control is so right that you almost forget you’re watching a movie as opposed to two people honest talking. It’s a reminder of how the tall directors are the ones who can do so noteworthy with so tiny. You’ll never discover at a blockbuster the same diagram again.
The reason I can’t give this film 5 stars is that the video transfer is Irascible. The color is often off, and the sound is mediocre at best. Hopefully someone will do and restore this gem of a film.
Do yourself a favor and Glimpse THIS MOVIE. You’ll probably complain about doing it, but you’ll feel immensely satisfied afterward.
This is my common movie of all time. Period. You can sit inon the most inviting conversation ever and I’ve done it many times,every time finding myself thinking of different things, contemplating my beget life and wondering about how crazy Andre actually is and how seriously to rob his ideas about how human life came to an slay a few decades ago, leaving us all robots in search of some twinge of genuine feeling. But the dvd is so dreadful I suspected it was a bootleg. When the camera switches from Andre to Wally the color completely changes. It’s all grainy as if recorded on awful tape off a badly receiving tv. At one point a exiguous white hair appears and vacillates on the lower shroud for oh about 30 minutes. Are they kidding? There needs to be a unusual edition of this immense movie, and those of us who bought this sham of a version should be allowed to trade it in. Here is a film critiquing the falseness of what our unique life has become: lovely, but I don’t need an object lesson costing me $20. Out of respect for the sublime Louis Malle, set aside out a current version!

Fulci’s sucess is a teeter-totter of unravelled contents and zombie-head explosions, but House of Clocks isn’t a gore anecdote. I enjoyed this movie because of the inventive plot-concept Fulci uses to pick, not confuse–as in some of his flicks such as City of the Walking Tiresome. The characters, a trio of cleptos, bag themselves caught up in a time warp started when they accidentally slay an obsolete couple in their clock-ridden mansion. Don’t give up until the waste, the twist is deadly and I admit, it save a hooked smile on my face. There are a few gory moments–a lot of bullet wounds–in this movie, but if that’s all you care about, then explore somewhere else. Fulci fans need this as grand as I need a damn respectable zombie movie.
HOUSE OF CLOCKS is the best post-1982 movie Lucio Fulci ever made, and delivers the same style of shock violence as his zombie movies.
Made for Italian TV, but pulled because it was too gory, CLOCKS will certainly never be shown on British or US TV due to the extremely graphic bloodshed on indicate, some of which is easily as dismal as his stout blown dismay movies.
The spot involves a trio of unlikeable petty thugs, who accidentally end an broken-down couple who live in a house pudgy of ornate antinue clocks. I saw the fresh version in Hungarian when I was a teenager and loved the movie very noteworthy. THe review above says it’s a awful james bond movie from the 70′s and 80′s. Well, don’t forget that the cartoon was made in the 80′s. If all the fun is lost in the English version, maybe the English script writers should be blamed. I am looking forward to seeing it again.
Cat City is the greatest achievement of Hungarian animators. It has an action-packed storyline with plenty of humour. This cartoon, Cat City is now a cult classic and an often quoted one. That’s not without a reason. The dialogues are brilliantly written and are hilarious, and the characters are likeable.

The unusual title (Macskafogo) means literally Cat-catcher. According to the narrative, the cats are planning the extermination of all mice from the planet. However, the mice have a superhero to turn to, a James Bond-like mouse with expansive physical strength, teeth hard like diamonds, a god sense of humor, and the cleverness of an Einstein.
He is sent to a Japanese-seeming city called Pokio, to regain the plans of a current weapon from a mouse scientist. Dean Jones and Hayley Mills star in this film about a teenage girl whose ornery cat becomes a surveillance tool for an FBI agent on the mosey of two kidnappers. Unfortunately, Mills has to sustain this a secret, which isn’t easy seeing as how she has a sister who isn’t exactly being cooperative (a hilarious performance by Dorothy Provine, in a worthy more assertive role than she usually plays) and a boyfriend named “Canoe” who thinks she’s cheating on him. Add to that a snoopy next door neighbor and her virtually-deaf husband, played respectively by Elsa Lanchester and William DeMarest (they literally remove the expose from the rest of the cast) and you’ve got a comedy that is chunky of belly laughs and able to withstand repeated viewings. If you’re a tremendous Hayley Mills fan, as I am, then this film will be fun for you regardless, but one of the other reasons I like this film so considerable is that it features many of the 60′s TV display character actors: Neville Impress (“Laredo”) and Frank Gorshin (the Riddler from “Batman”) play the kidnappers, and Grayson Hall (Oscar Nominee for “The Night of the Iguana) plays their victim; plus there’s a hilarious bit at a drive in with Richard Deacon (Mel Cooley from “Dick Van Dyke”) . But by far the actors most deserving of attention are Elsa Lanchester and William DeMarest as Mills’ next door neighbors – the scene at the waste where Lanchester gets what’s coming to her is worth the trace of the video, plus some. One more silly bit worth noting: inspect for Ed Wynn as a nervous jeweler (he’s not on there long, but you’ll be laughing the whole time he’s on the hide) . Broad fun, arguably the most underrated Disney Comedy ever.

I was looking for a proper book about President Obama’s life narrative, and I found this DVD: President Barack Obama: The Man and His Move. It comes out officially on Inauguration Day, January 20th, and documents both his personal epic AND his considerable campaign up until Election Day. It’s really comprehensive; there are wonderful interviews and also the magnificent Brian McKnight song for the campaign, “Yes We Can”. If you’ve been wanting to know more about this improbable man, I recommend this DVD. Although I do wish this film had been longer to give us viewers more insight on the depth and history of their friendship/relationship, quality rules over quantity here and you can’t assist but feel the strong connection they have for one another honest from the originate…

I will not give away too grand of the account other than the basic set of the movie. First off, if you are looking or a colossal mech fighting melee, peer somewhere else. The DVD Menus:
This is one of the cleanest DVDs I’ve seen in a while, no excess junk on any of the menus. I’m a firm believer in the whole “less is more” notion, and this DVD adheres wonderfully to that. From the runt I do the disc in, I found my self hunting through the menus so I could listen to the music clips that were on each one.
The Music:
From the music on the title hide, you will be curved on the perfectly fitting piano fetch selected for this memoir. Throughout the entire film the music changes to befriend with the emotional direction of the narrative. Even the battle theme managed to turn a soft piano song into a believable fight song. I found myself scouring the internet trying to come by the music for download.
The animation:
The animation on this DVD is mostly computer generated. The character designs ogle a miniature choppy compared to the 3D rendered mechs, buildings, and spacecraft scattered throughout the feature. Mild, they don’t discover out of station at all. A lot of complaints I’ve seen were about the lack of dependable animation and the excessive expend of mild images. There is tranquil a lot of animation, and the collected images in no map catch away from the film. There are quite a few extras on this disc that will maintain you from feeling that you wasted [$$] on a 30 limited DVD. There is another feature by the creator called “She and Her Cat” and an interview with the creator. Japanese trailers for Voices of a Distant Star, and a few other trailers of other releases from ADV Films.
After watching this DVD once, it has towered over all of my other Anime movies by far. Do not hesitate to add this to your collection.

I personally bear Chris Rock is the funniest comedian ever. I acquire both Vol1 & Vol2 of “the Best of the Chris Rock Expose”. The 2nd DVD deserves 4.5 out of 5 stars, without a doubt but the first volumne is pale in quality, length & stammer.
This seems to objective be grabs of random pieces of his display and are bar far NOT “the best off”. The 2nd volumne has 55mins of skits and then another 45mins of his “Taxi Cab Driver Confessions” which alone almost makes the disk worth the seize. This disk is unbiased a abominable collection of skits from the exhibit, then 2 skits from the Taxi Cab. If you want a friendly Chris Rock DVD, retract volumne 2, but pass this one up, its not worth it, not even with a less than (…) pricetag.
Chris Rock has proven himself to be a wonderful comedian as well as a tremedous political satirist. I have near to worship his inspiring but hilarious riffs on class and racial inequalities in his standup; he has a manner which lends itself to biting commentary without seeming mean-spirited, a legal rarity.
This video is an hour or so of sketches from Rock’s HBO “talk explain,” a critically acclaimed endeavor. The sketches are attractive light in nature, unlike worthy of his standup, but he peaceful manages to remains fascinating. All in all, this video is vast — especially since we don’t have HBO in my apartment, so this is my only chance to ogle Rock’s talk expose work. However, I did miss the edginess of Rock’s standup social satire — for that, I would try one of his standup specials (which are, for my money, the best Chris Rock for the buck) . But if you’ve already memorized them all, and you’re looking for more laughs, try this extraordinary video.

I rented this movie yesterday and am now going to catch it. As a Latina who was a) a runaway, b) a teen mother and c) section of a street gang, all of what goes on in this movie hit me hard. Venus Castro is a 15 year broken-down girl who is having a unpleasant day…actually, fair an extension of what has been a terrible life. Taken in at the age of nine by her biological father and stepmom, but also as a foster child, her confusing beginning lends to the dissatisfaction she feels with her life. Her stepmother has been respectable to her, but seemingly always throwing the fact that she has raised another woman’s child in Venus’ face. Complicating this already curved family scenario is that when the movie begins, Venus’ dad has died only the week before, and her setpmother is actually relieved. Mild not giving up on Venus, the two have to try and figure out what kind of relationship they now have. As we enter the movie, Venus is having a dreadful day. Enticed by street life but bright limited of the realities of it, Venus is torn by wanting to be finish to her stepmom but resenting her fair the same. Problems at school are thrown into the mix, and Venus seems unfortunate and confused. Her stepmother goes out on a date with a cop (less than a month after her dad dies) and the stepmother catches Venus playing with an empty gun her dinky brother brought home, the same day. After that, she is caught by police and arrested because she unprejudiced happened to be walking in the bad site at the infamous time. Her stepmother doesn’t bear her innocence, and an argument takes area in which the stepmom voices resentments that have probably been building for a very long time. Venus takes to the streets and is confronted by one region after another, which she is ill equipped to deal with. She makes one abominable choice after another. She is raped, and then further victimized by older people around her who can’t gaze past their beget selfish needs. The ending of the movie leaves you wondering what Venus will do next. I found this movie to be a great, realistic conception of the things that can happen, how one awful decision can snowball into a plot that you can’t control. I recommend this to parents with teens. The images are harsh and disturbing at times, but in this day and age sometimes the jolt is the disagreement in the decisions your kids will acquire. I also judge the movie gives a pleasant inside gaze into the complicated, difficult, but livable dynamics of inner city Hispanic families. The entire movie appears to have been filmed in Unique York (I could actually pinpoint where they were on several occasions) and the grittiness of the areas Tourists don’t actually want to visit makes the movie all the more realistic. The soundtrack is also grand. Highly recommended!

i bought this dvd with no advanced knowledge. i was impressed. tammy trull does a astounding job as venus, the street chick who’s not as tough as she looks, who tries to gain savor, often in all the unpleasant places. i have been watching a lot of films space in nyc lately and the director really captures the sense of the space. jaime tirelli as ralph gives a obedient performance as the cop working undercover who is only looking out for venus’ best interests. the girl gang scenes with juanita are raw. i nearly winced as i saw venus getting her butt kicked as portion of her initiation. but then you have to be tough to live in fresh york city. it’s not a town to be soft in…
